# Glow & Scale

## Glow

Minecraft only has the 16 chat colours for glows: `BLACK DARK_BLUE DARK_GREEN DARK_AQUA DARK_RED DARK_PURPLE GOLD GRAY DARK_GRAY BLUE GREEN AQUA RED LIGHT_PURPLE YELLOW WHITE` (or `&0`-`&f`).

```yaml
type: GLOW
cosmetics:
  red:     { name: '&cRed Glow', color: RED }
  fire:    { name: 'Fire Glow', colors: [RED, GOLD, YELLOW, GOLD], interval: 300 }   # cycles, ms per colour
  rainbow: { name: 'Rainbow Glow', color: rainbow, interval: 400 }
```

The glow colour is the player's scoreboard team colour, which is also the colour of the name above the head (a Minecraft limit). `config.yml` → `glow.mode`:

| Mode             | How                                                                                                                                                                      |
| ---------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| `PACKETS` | Needs packetevents. The glow and its colour are only drawn on players' screens: nothing changes on the server and TAB needs no setup |
| `TAB` | TAB owns the teams and takes the team colour from the **last** colour code of `tagprefix`: put `%edcosmetics_glow%` at the very end of `tagprefix` in TAB's `groups.yml` |
| `TEAMS` | EdCosmetics puts glowing players in its own teams (servers without TAB) |
| `AUTO` (default) | `PACKETS` with packetevents; otherwise `TAB` when TAB is installed, `TEAMS` if not                                                                                       |

Emote models wear the player's glow too (`emotes/config.yml` → `emotes.glow`).

## Scale

```yaml
type: SCALE
cosmetics:
  small: { name: '&aSmall', scale: 0.8 }
  giant: { name: '&cGiant', scale: 1.25 }
```

`scale` goes from 0.0625 to 16. It uses the vanilla scale attribute (hitbox and eye height change too) and is never saved into the player file, so removing the plugin leaves no one stuck at another size.
