# Installation

## Requirements

* Paper 1.21 or newer, Java 21.
* **PinnaPrison 1.2.26 or newer** (PinnaDuels is a PinnaPrison addon: it uses its pickaxe, mines, menus, action bar and the packet entities of its built-in EdLib). PinnaDuels turns itself off with a clear console message when PinnaPrison is missing or too old.
* Optional: **PlaceholderAPI** (scoreboards, TAB, holograms), **EdLang** (per-player languages), a **MySQL / MariaDB** database to share duel data between servers ([Storage](/p/pinnaduels/getting-started/storage.md); files are the default).
* WorldEdit / FastAsyncWorldEdit are **not** needed, also not for `.schem` arenas.

## Steps

1. Put `PinnaDuels.jar` in `plugins/` next to PinnaPrison and restart the server.
2. On the first start PinnaDuels creates:
   * `plugins/PinnaDuels/config.yml` and `messages.yml`;
   * the bundled arena `arenas/duelsmina.yml` + `schematics/duelsmina.schem` (two floating islands with a 27x27, 9 deep mine each);
   * its menus in `plugins/PinnaPrison/guis/pinnaduels/` (`duels`, `duels-active`, `duels-top`, `duels-leagues`);
   * the empty void world `pinnaduels` (right after the server finished starting) where every arena copy is pasted.
3. That's it: players earn Duel Tokens by mining and open `/duel`.

To test alone, run `/duel admin practice` (a full duel against an empty side, nothing counts) or `/duel admin tokens <you> 3` and `/duel queue` with a second account.

The bundled arena was built on 1.21.8. On older versions a few decorative blocks they don't have are left out (logged once); the mines are not affected.
